Job Description Position: Trauma Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Employer: Surgical Affiliates Management Group Location: Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield, CA Position Type: Full-Time Description: Surgical Affiliates Management Group is actively seeking a dedicated Trauma Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic team at Kern Medical in Bakersfield, CA. This role is perfectly suited for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who excels in fast-paced and high-acuity environments. Ideal candidates are those eager to commit to a career in trauma and acute care surgery. New graduates are welcome, as we provide comprehensive training and support in developing specialized skills in trauma care.
Requirements Responsibilities: - Perform initial assessments, diagnostics, and evaluations for trauma patients.
- Assist in the management of acute surgical cases and coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Participate in trauma resuscitations, patient stabilization, and follow-up care.
- Assist in surgical procedures under the supervision of a trauma surgeon.
- Conduct rounds on trauma and surgical patients in ICU and step-down units.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Engage actively in quality improvement initiatives and support the development of the trauma program.
Qualifications: - Must hold current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in California.
- Board Certification as an NP or PA is required.
- Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) are highly preferred.
- Prior experience in trauma, emergency medicine, critical care, or acute care surgery is advantageous but not mandatory.
